The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate is the one exam in India that lets students get into medical courses like
* MBBS which is Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
* BDS which is Bachelor of Dental Surgery
* BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS which are all part of AYUSH courses
* BVSc and AH which are, for people who want to be veterinarians
Some colleges also use the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate for students who want to do B.Sc. Nursing and Life Sciences courses.
The National Testing Agency does the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate every year.
Mode: Offline, done with pen and paper
Duration: Three hours twenty minutes which's two hundred minutes
Total Questions: Two hundred questions, but only one hundred eighty need to be answered
Type: Multiple choice questions
Nationality: People from India and other countries can apply for this. This includes citizens, OCI, PIO, NRIs and foreign nationals.
Age Limit: The minimum age is 17 years old. This is the age you should be by 31st December of the year you want to join.
The maximum age does not matter. The Supreme Court said in 2022 that there is no age limit.
Educational Qualification: You must have passed your 10+2 exams. You should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology and English, in school.
* Four marks for a correct answer
* Minus one mark for an answer
* Zero marks if you do not answer a question
The test has choice questions.
You get four marks, for each answer.
If you answer incorrectly you lose one mark.
If you do not attempt a question you get zero marks.
This test is done without a computer using pen and paper.
It lasts for three hours and twenty minutes.
You have to answer one hundred eighty questions out of two hundred.
The NEET syllabus is based on the NCERT curriculum of Class 11 & 12:
Physics – Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electrodynamics, Modern Physics, etc.
Chemistry – Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry (XI & XII NCERT).
Biology – Plant & Animal Physiology, Genetics, Ecology, Human Physiology, Biotechnology, etc.
General EWS – 10%
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) – 27%
SC – 15%
ST – 7.5%
PwD – 5% seats reserved in each category
Conducted online at neet.nta.nic.in
Application involves: Registration → Filling details → Uploading documents → Fee payment.
